  3. Your fitting, verified in your ear

If you choose hearing aids, the fitting is checked with real-ear measurement. After that, ongoing support: a care plan, or fee-for-service, as you prefer.

From the owner

A letter from Justin

Most people think the answer to hearing loss is a pair of hearing aids, and I completely understand why. It’s the technology you wear, and it’s the part you see advertised all the time.

But when people are hearing well with their hearing aids, they rarely talk about the brand. They talk about the person who took the time to set them up properly, listened when something wasn’t right, and stuck with them until it was. They talk about the person who never pressured or guilted them into buying, but cared about how well they were hearing.

That’s the kind of care I want to give you. I am thorough, careful, and precise in every part of how I care for people with improving their hearing; I am also constantly learning from skilled Audiologists in the industry to bring the absolute best practices to my community.

There will be bumps along the way. A setting in your hearing aids that sounds great in my office might not work at your granddaughter’s soccer game or a busy family dinner. When that happens, I want you to call me, and I want you to feel comfortable doing it. That’s what I’m here for.

I opened Optimal Hearing Solutions with my family as a completely independent clinic in Salmon Arm, where I’ve lived for 40 years. My wife and I are raising our three kids here. This is where we shop, where our kids are growing up, and where I’ll keep seeing the people I help long after their first appointment. That matters to me.

When you’re ready to take the first step, we’ll be here to help.

Why hearing matters

Hearing usually changes slowly, so its effects can be easy to miss. Four places people often notice it:

  • Conversation

Following one voice at a busy table takes more effort than it used to; you can hear people but struggle to understand what they said.

  • Energy

Piecing together what people are saying to you all day long, can leave you exhausted by evening.

  • TV and phone

The TV volume creeps up over time, and phone calls get harder to follow.

  • Time with others

Group conversations can begin to feel frustrating to follow, and it can become tempting to sit them out to avoid embarrassing or awkward interactions.

Verification

What “measured in your ear” means

Every ear canal has its own size and shape, and that changes the sound a hearing aid delivers. Two people with the same hearing test results, wearing the same hearing aid on the same settings, can have different levels of sound reaching the eardrum. So the sound is measured where it counts: in your ear, in real time.

Real-ear measurement, on every fitting

A thin, soft tube connected to a verification system rests in your ear canal alongside the hearing aid. It measures the sound levels the hearing aid is producing near your eardrum, so we can ensure those levels are not too loud, and not too soft, allowing us to optimize speech understanding and overall audibility.
